How many times have you come up with a brilliant business idea and the more you think about it, the bigger it gets? Soon enough it grows so big, you decide against it because you do not have the resources, or there's too much work involved, etc. It is in our blood to always think big, so sometimes I have to force myself to think otherwise. With websites, sometimes less can be more, and smaller can mean more money!
Size Does not Matter (when it comes to websites)
I can prove this statement with one of my own websites, which is making ± R1000 per month on Google Adsense income alone, and believe it or not, it is only a one-pager! Some of my other websites with more than 50 pages aren't getting close to that.
I have learned that, in most cases, you are more successful if you focus all your attention on one specific niche. It becomes more difficult when you try to target the entire industry. The competition in some industries is hectic and in most cases it will cost you a lot of time and money for your website to perform well. Let's look at the following example:
I didn't want to create another Wedding Directory in SA because there are hundreds of them, so I created a niche site, http://www.kitchenteaideas.co.za which is getting more than 4000 unique visitors per month. At X amount of clicks multiplied by X amount per click this equals good money!
If you search for 'kitchen tea ideas' on Google, there aren't many wedding directory websites in sight, mainly because niche sites rule!
So, based on this example, I am sure you will understand why I recently registered more than 10 other niche sites related to weddings, some of them with more than 25 000 exact match searches per month!
Use the same principle for any other industry.
How to Make Money with a Niche Site
My main objective with niche sites is to make money through Google Adsense. I will create the site and place a couple of ads on each page. Have a look at http://www.kitchenteaideas.co.za and http://www.bachelorettepartyideas.biz to see what I mean.
You will also notice that I have placed one static ad for myself (The Money Source). With over 4000 visitors per month, it would be stupid not to try and capitalise on that.
To get started, follow these simple steps:
- Decide on your niche.
- Do your keyword research.
- Build your site and get a professional to write the content.
- Add Google Adsense Ads to your website.
- Direct traffic to your site.
- Reap the rewards.
